Hasan Koktas was born in Trabzon in 1963. He was graduated from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Middle East Technical University in 1988 with a B.S. degree of Public Administrator. He began his career in the banking sector, and worked for Turkiye Is Bankasi, Family Finance and Turkey Finance Bank and served as a member of Board of Directors of Vakifbank. He continued his career as DG of of Belko (Coal Company of Ankara Municipality) during 1994 and 1999. He was appointed as Vice President of the Privatization Administration in 2003, and continued this position till 2008. During this period, he served as Vice Chairman of ERDEMIR (steel conglomerarte) and as Chairman and Vice Chairmanof TUPRAS (refinery company). Meanwhile he worked on privatization of Tupras, Erdemir, Halkbank (bank), Esgaz (gas distribution), Bursagaz (gas distribution), harbors, mining companies, etc. Hasan Koktas participated several national and international activities about energy sector. He has certificates on "Management Skills", "Art of Understanding the People and Communicating with the People" "Empathic Communication, Executive Coaching and Leadership" Hasan Koktas was appointed as President of Energy Market Regulatory Authority on January 4, 2008, ans he is still in office. He speaks English, is married and father of three children.
